The 59th China Guardian Quarterly Auctions closed successfully on Sept 29. A total of 13 sessions, including Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Porcelain, Jade, Works of Art, Rare Books and Manuscripts, fetched a total of 204 million yuan with an average turnover rate of 87 percent.
Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy
This section featured six sessions, about 2,500 pieces of art and 102.43 million yuan of value, with an average turnover rate of 80 percent.
“As China Guardian’s online bidding system and related services are becoming more mature, many new collectors participated in the auction through the internet, which injected fresh power into the art market,” said Xiao Yang, general manager of Quarterly Auctions-Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Department.
“In March next year, China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will usher in its 60th auction. The consignment has begun. We look forward to moving forward with more friends who love art.”

Porcelain, Jade and Works of Art
This section offered more than 2,400 items, forming five sessions, and saw a total turnover of 96.56 million yuan, the second-highest for the 58th Quarterly Auctions.
The session "Porcelain Collections of Guardian’s Companions" in this season had the largest number of items since its establishment, with a turnover rate of 97.24 percent and a total turnover of 34.584 million yuan. Some jade and work of art that were auctioned online for the first time also received a warm welcome from buyers, with a turnover rate of 95.08 percent.
Liu Yang, general manager of Ceramics and Works of Art Department, said in this auction, some of the jade and works of art tried a new form of "offline preview and online auction" for the first time, which provides a new way for the department to seek the development of other sectors.

A total of 590 items were offered in this section, forming two sessions, “Rare Books & Rubbings Book” and “Letters and Manuscripts”. It achieved a turnover of 5.36 million yuan and a turnover rate of 73 percent.
“Rare Books, Rubbings and Manuscripts” has been part of Quarterly Auctions for more than 10 years. It is a close link between China Guardian and the market as a whole. “The stable transaction of rare books in quarterly auctions shows the trust of the market and collectors in China Guardian,” said departmental general manager Song Hao.
