This spring, the 58th China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will present 5,466 pieces of art for an auction extravaganza.
As a leader of medium-sized auctions in China, China Guardian Quarterly Auctions has made remarkable achievements since its establishment. The preview of this auction will be held from March 24 to 26, and bidding runs from March 27 to 30, both at the Guardian Art Center. Categories include Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Porcelain, Jade, Works of Art, Rare Books, Letters and others for a total of 13 sessions. A wide range of items is eagerly anticipated.

Quarterly Auctions - the Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy department has set up five sessions with a total of nearly 2,600 items.
“Masterpieces by Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Artists” is the star session. This time, the department has carefully selected many works by modern artists such as Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, Fu Baoshi, Huang Zhou, Pu Ru, Wu Hufan, Qi Gong, Zhao Puchu, Wang Xuetao, and ancient artists such as Qiu Ying, Wen Zhengming, Shen Zhou, Gong Xian, Lan Ying and Zhang Ruitu.

There are many subsections for the sessions “Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy (Ⅰ) and (Ⅱ)”. “Collection of Jundetang” is a private collection session. Most artworks are classic porcelain from official kilns in the Qing Dynasty, of excellent grade. It also offers popular fencai, doucai and pure-colored porcelains of folk kilns.

“Collection of Juzhentang” is another private collection session this season. The 33 pieces sold at the session are mainly from the official kilns of the Qing Dynasty. It also has porcelains of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Among them are porcelains with great display and ornamental functions. There are also some rare official kiln porcelains of the Qing Dynasty.

“Charm of the Important Porcelains & Pleasure in the Palm” are two night sessions which have been held for a long time in Quarterly Auctions. This time, while ensuring the quality and the characteristics of the sessions, the department has slightly adjusted them, combining them into one for the session. The department carefully selected 100 pieces of porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties, forming 5 sectors in “Charm of the Important Porcelains”. In "Pleasure in the Palm", the department focuses on presenting some well-known palm porcelain pieces, including some collections from well-known museums and important private collections at home and abroad.

“Porcelain Collections of Guardian’s Companions” is a selection of porcelain collected by Guardian companions at home and abroad. The companions’ preferences vary in different regions, thus, the porcelains have different characteristics. In this season, the department collected more than 700 pieces of porcelain from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China era, thanks to collectors from Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Nanjing and other places. Among them, there are many fine porcelain pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties. At that time, there were also painted and pure-colored porcelain pieces from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

“Rare Books & Rubbings Book” covers ancient books, Buddhist books, seal cuttings, rubbings and print paper, with many high-valued items from the Ming, Qing, Han and Tang dynasties.
