China Guardian will raise the curtain for its autumn auctions in Beijing.
Before the auction, China Guardian will hold previews in Shanghai on Oct 20 and 21, and in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on Oct 30 and 31.

The autumn auctions will offer more than 7,500 pieces of art, from categories including Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, 20th Century and Contemporary Art, Ceramics and Works of Art, Furniture, Manuscripts, Stamps and Covers, Coins, Banknotes, Jewelry and Jadeite, Wine and Tea.
Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy

This section will be divided into four sessions, with nearly 1,000 pieces of art. Two stunning masterpieces by Zhang Daqian, Summer Moutains and Autumn Landscape, will debut before buyers this autumn.
Thanks to Meijielou Studio, a group of treasures will appear this time, of which the giant Pu Ru’s landscape masterpiece Visiting Friends in Deep Mountains attracts the most attention.
Ten pieces by Fu Baoshi will be auctioned in the Grand View: Chinese Paintings Highlight·Morden session. Colorful Anthology, the permanent session, will focus on private collections, including the collections of Shi Ximin, former vice-minister of culture, and Han Peixin, former secretary of the Jiangsu Party committee. Contemporary Chinese Paintings will provide a diversified selection of contemporary ink paintings.

There are two sessions in this section, The Grand View: Chinese Paintings Highlight·Classical (Evening Sale), and Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy (Day Sale).
Zhou Zhimian’s Flowers, more than 17 meters long with nearly 80 flowers, leads the Grand View. Along with Yun Shouping’s Flowers and Landscape and Hong Wu’s Trees and Flowers, it creates a beautiful atmosphere for the auction. This session also includes works by famous ancient Chinese artists, such as Shen Zhou, You Qiu, Huang Daozhou, Fu Shan and Zhang Ruitu. Seven pieces of artcollected by the couple Xie Zhiliu and Chen Peiqiu, including Guo Zhongshu’s Landscape, will be sold in this session. Fine works of the Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties from Shiyanzhai Studio will be available for buyers during the auction.
As for Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, it offers nearly 300 paintings and calligraphy pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties, including works by Wang Zhideng, Wang Shizhen and Wang Duo. A group of items released by the cultural relics store also deserves attention.

The department will provide seven sessions, showing the masterpieces of Western museums and the work of Chinese masters, which are highly anticipated.
·Seven Highlights·
1.Four masterpieces of Impressionism will appear in Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale, including Claude Monet's leading work of the museum level Les Arceaux de roses and Pablo Picasso's typical portrait Tête de femme au chapeau.
2. Six pieces of Zao Wou-Ki's fine works created in different periods demonstrate the evolution of the artist's creative style. The oil painting Chinese City, inspired by the artist's spiritual hometown Hangzhou in 1955, has an unparalleled reputation in China.
3. Artists Studying in Japan in the 20th Century gathers more than 10 pieces by 7 senior masters: Liu Haisu, Zhu Qizhan, Guan Zilan, Wei Tianlin, Ni Yide, Guan Liang and Li luogong.
4. Zhou Chunya's Bluestone, the master of the "mountain and stone series" in 1992, set a global record for sale price in 2006. After 15 years, the collector presented it to great surprise at China Guardian this autumn. In addition, eight works with different themes will appear together.
5. While focusing on Chinese young and middle-aged artists, like Wang Yin, Wang Xingwei, Jia Aili, Qinqi and Liu Wei, the session Contemporary Art Evening Sale (II) pays attention to international artists, including Loie Hollowell, KAWS, Edgar Plans and Javier Calleia.
6. Important Private Collections in Asia was great success in this year’s spring auctions, and the second one comes after a great deal of planning.
7. 51 pieces from Zhu Danian's Family Collection have been made public in the secondary market for the first time, providing collectors with a golden opportunity.

Porcelain and Works of Art
The Ceramics and Works of Art Department will hold nine sessions covering porcelain, jade, scholar’s studio objects, Buddha statues, Zisha pottery and other categories, with a total of more than 1,000 items. Among them, there are 124 pieces of imperial porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties, over 20 copper furnaces, nearly 100 Buddha statues, 220 pieces of Zisha pottery and 88 pieces of scholar’s studio objects.

Classical Furniture and Works of Art
The Classical Furniture and Works of Art Department launched six sessions this season, covering new and old furniture, seals, guqin, scholar’s studio objects and carpets, with nearly 700 items.
The classical furniture is mainly made of Huanghuali wood, red sandalwood and other precious wood, showing production style in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The session of scholar’s studio objects covers manuscripts, calligraphy and paintings, bronze Buddha statues and wooden articles. Twelve pieces of guqin covering periods from the Tang dynasty to the present are waiting to be sold.

Rare Books and Rubbing Books
This season, more than 500 lots are divided into four sessions in this section.
The session Collections of Qi Gong offers 80 pieces of art collected by Qi Gong, including 50 pieces created by Qi Gong and 30 fan paintings given to Qi Gong by modern artists.
Rare Books and Rubbing Books includes ancient Buddhist scriptures, from the Northern Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing dynasties, the memorials and archives of the Qing Dynasty, and rubbings from the Shang Dynasty to the Wei Dynasty.
Collection of Jiashutang Studio offers 64 pieces collected by Jiashutang Studio across various categories, such as bronze heavy weapons of the Western Zhou Dynasty, ancient brick of Han and Wei dynasties, stone carvings of the Southern Dynasty, statues of the Five Dynasties, sycee, banknotes of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Huizhou ink and bamboo carvings.
Letters and Manuscripts offers Yanfu’s English letters, Qi Gong’s calligraphy, Fu Baoshi’s letters and other famous people’s letters and calligraphy.
