After five days' hard work, the total turnover of sessions including Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Porcelain, Furniture and Works of Art, Chinese Oil Painting and Sculpture, Rare Books, as well as Watches, Jewelry and Jadeite in China Guardian 2011 Autumn Auction hits RMB 3.858 billion yuan; with the auction price of two pieces of works exceeding RMB 100 million yuan, and 60 pieces exceeding RMB 10 million yuan. China Guardian 2011 Auction Session of Stamps, Coins, Silver Sycees and Bank Notes and Bronze Mirrors will be open tomorrow, and closed on November 22nd.

Among those auction sessions, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy again boasted the brand advantage and collection quality of China Guardian. Turnover of Ancient Chinese Painting and Calligraphy exceeded RMB 700 million yuan, with the auction price of 15 articles exceeding RMB 10 million yuan. Turnover of Modern and Contemporary Painting and Calligraphy exceeded RMB 1.89 billion yuan, with the auction price of 26 articles exceeding RMB10 million yuan. The total turnover of “Grand View: Chinese Paintings Highlight” that has attracted much attention was RMB 1.073 billion yuan, with the auction price of two articles exceeding 100 million yuan. The masterpiece named Landscape Painting Album created by Qi Baishi during his heyday ranked first in this autumn auction at the price of RMB 194 million yuan; Landscape Inspired by Tang Poems collected in Shih-ch'u Pao-chi was sold at the price of RMB 126.5 million yuan, creating a record high of Wang Hui’s works. Song of a Pipa Player (sold at RMB 82.8 million yuan) by Fu Baoshi and Mind Traveling among Mountains (at RM52.9 million yuan) by Huang Binhong both created records high for the painters in this auction session. Works named Spring River and Cloudy Mountain - Seven-Character Couplet in Running Script created by Lu Yanshao in 1986 was sold at the price of RMB 41.4 million yuan in the same session; works of Zhang Daqian named Landscape after Song Master and Peony were sold at the price of RMB 40.25 million yuan and RMB 33.925 million yuan respectively; Fu Shan’s calligraphy in cursive script named On Scholarly Pursuits: Biography of Three Masters in Taiyuan was sold at the price RMB 32.775 million yuan; Farewell Poems and Landscapes Album jointly created by Qiu Ying, Wen Zhengming, Xie Shichen, Wen Jia, Peng Nian, Zhou Tianqiu, etc., as well as Five Pairs of Birds by Ren Yi, Evening Rain in Ba Mountain by Fu Baoshi, Double Vul Tures and Beauty Standing Alone by Xu Beihong were all sold at the price of RMB 32.2 million yuan.
The total turnover of the session of Porcelain, Furniture and Works of Art was as high as RMB 917 million yuan, with the auction price of 13 articles exceeding 10 million yuan. A classical furniture session entitled “Special Auction for the Classical Furniture from the Ming and Qing Dynasties” collected the largest number of auction articles of complete varieties; both quality and level of articles are highest throughout the world till now. The auction site was crowded with fevered collectors, and the total turnover of the session hit RMB 230 million yuan finally. “Zitan Throne Chair with Lotus and Longevity Decoration of Qianlong Period in the Qing Dynasty” won the first place in the session at the auction price of RMB 57.5 million yuan; another piece of imperial Zitan furniture treasure - “Zitan Imperial Table with Dragon Decoration” was sold at the price of RMB 55.2 million yuan. The session entitled “Prosperous Dynasty- Collection of Imperial Porcelain Treasure” exhibited many important porcelain works produced from official ware, the total turnover of the session was RMB 74.94 million yuan, the works named “Qing Qianlong Blue and White Underglaze Red Vase with the Decoration of Sea Water and Dragon Pattern” was sold at the price of RMB 34.5 million yuan. The session entitled “Be Careful about Virtue and Understand the Way of Nature- Treasures from Imperial Daoguang Porcelain by Wutaishanren (II)” continued the momentum from the spring auction, with 100% turnover rate and a total turnover of RMB 114 million yuan; “Qing Daoguang Famille Rose Flat Square Vase with Decoration of Birthday Celebration by Immortals” topped the list at the auction price of RMB 18.4 million yuan. The total turnover of Modern and Contemporary Arts and Crafts IV was as high as RMB 195 million yuan, with the mean turnover rate exceeding 85%. A display article named “Traveling Red Cliff at Night” made of Tianhuang stone of Shanshan by Shi Qing created a record high of Tianhuang stone at the price of RMB 20.12 million yuan.
The session of Chinese Oil Painting and Sculpture was pursued by many collectors, and the total turnover was RMB 274 million yuan. The renowned oil painting works named Jenny’s Portrait created by Xu Beihong in 1939 won the first place at the auction price of RMB 57.5 million yuan. The works named Sheep Shearing created at earlier ages which makes Zhou Chunya well known was sold at the price of RMB 304.75 million yuan, creating a record high for the painter. Total turnover of “Chinese Sculpture” was RMB 10.48 million yuan with the turnover rate as high as 84%; and Zhan Wang’s “Rockery” was sold at the price of RMB 862,500 yuan.
The total turnover of the session of Rare Books exceeded RMB 54.46 million yuan. Turnover of the “Dedicated Session of Book Collection of Mr. Ji Xianlin” exceeded RMB 16.2 million yuan with the turnover rate as high as 98%. Book-printed edition of Articles from the Tang Dynasty with 1000 Volumes and 3 Volumes of Preface which was edited by Dong Gao and others, produced by imperial household in the 19th Year under the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty was sold at the highest price of RMB 4.945 million yuan. In addition, hand-copied book in the Ming Dynasty of the Calligraphy Treasure of Five Talented from Ming Dynasty by Song Lian and other authors was sold at the price of RMB 4.025 million yuan. Manuscripts and letters of celebrities and became the highlight of the session, with the auction price of the manuscript of Taking in Candle Light by Zhou Zuoren being RMB 3.45 million yuan.
The total turnover of the session of Famous Watches and Jadeite was RMB 24.13 million yuan. Among all auction items, Old Fashion Jadeite and Diamond Necklace Pendant was sold at the price of RMB 2.415 million yuan, Patek Philippe (3990) Perpetual Calendar Chronograph was sold at the price of RMB 1.725 million yuan, ranking first in the section of jewelry and wristwatch respectively.
