The China Guardian 2012 Autumn Auction is about to kick off. It will present more than 3300 lots, including Chinese paintings, porcelain, artworks, furniture, Chinese oil paintings, sculpture, rare books, rubbings, manuscripts, jadeite, jewelry and watches. The auction will be held at the Beijing International Hotel Conference Center. The preview will be held from Oct 25-27, and the auction will be from Oct 28-31.
“We successfully held the first auction in Hong Kong in early October. The total turnover was HKD 455 million. It greatly boosted our confidence for the upcoming autumn auction,” said by Wang Yannan, the President and Director of the China Guardian. “We prepared many fine works, and some of them are ready for their first appearance. We hope that people can join the auction, and feel the beauty of art.”
In Chinese ancient paintings section, there will have almost 200 works in 3 sessions. Four loyal collections from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and recorded in Shiqu Baoji will debut. There are Dong Qichang’s two landscape paintings, a calligraphy work and Zhang Zongchang’s Landscape. Among them, Dong Qichang’s works appear on the market for the first time.
In the Chinese Modern Paintings part, there are more than 600 lots spread over 6 sessions, and China Guardian will launch the View of the Art world session to promote 3 special subjects. Those are Confucianism, Sketching, and Happiness. As with the spring auction, the Contemporary Ink Painting session and New World of Contemporary Ink Painting session will be on stage again. Qi Baishi’s Flower, Huang Binhong’s Landscape and Zhang Daqian’s Landscape are the most impressive works.
In the Porcelain, Works of Art and Furniture part, there are almost 1000 lots over 8 sessions. An Exceptional and Important Imperial Jade-hilted Ceremonial Saber and Scabbard is ready to impress collectors. The saber is an important national cultural relic. Its maker was supervised by Qianlong, an emperor of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). In addition, there are more than 60 porcelain pieces from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in the Porcelain session.
In the Furniture session, more than forty pieces of Ming-style raw pear wood, the royal-style red sandalwood furniture, and four treasures of the sketch (the writing brush, ink, paper, and ink stone), will be launched.
In Contemporary works of art part, there are almost 600 lots in 4 sessions. Many fine seal cutting works, made by Qi Baishi, Wu Changshuo and Zhao Zhiqian, will make their first appearance. Trip in Peach Orchard, A Shoushan Tianhuang Carving in Low Relief is an impressive Shoushan Stone work, and weighed 513 grams. Gu Jingzhou’s Zisha teapot work will be auctioned in Collection of Modern and Contemporary Zisha Teapots session.
In Chinese oil paintings and sculptures part, there are 200 lots in 4 sessions. Li Tifu’s Watching the Waterfall is very rare in the oil session. Chen Danqing’s Sinology Research Institute, You Jindong’s Middle Age and Ai Xuan’s early works will be auctioned in Chinese Oil Painting and Sculpture session. In addition, Nudity and Inspiration—Art and Design sessions will be launched for the first time.
In rare books part, there are more than 180 lots, including 6 pieces of national level cultural relics. In addition, it will have a distinguished gathering of famous literati letters.
The autumn auction will also present two special sessions. In Treasure of Yimeian session, it will show some Zhang Daqian and Fu Baoshi’s fine works that collected by Luo Jimei and his wife. Luo was the host of Yimeian, and he was the former Kuomintang director of the photography department of the Central News Agency. Among them, the most eye-catching Fu Baoshi Microinscribing the Chapter will appear for the first time.
In Treasures from the Yuan Yu Xuan Collcetion session, three cultural relics will be auctioned.
