In accordance with the 2009 World Stamp Exhibition Organizing Committee, China Guardian Auctions Co., Ltd. will serve as the exclusive auction company to organize the "2009 World Stamp Exhibition Special Auction" and accompanying display of stamp auction treasures. The auction preview begins April 10, and the auction will be conducted April 12 at the 2009 World Stamp Exhibition site in Luoyang, Henan Province.
The auction includes a collection of Qing Dynasty, Early Republic, Late Republic and modern Chinese stamps, the four major periods of Chinese stamp production, including more than 800 auction items, a number which have never before been auctioned in Mainland China. Many auction items will also be auctioned without reserve prices. Of note, the Qing Dynasty stamp section includes 80 rare works, a number of red stamps of rare provenance, including the most brilliant, a set of two early junk boat stamps, which can be considered one of the "Four Treasures of the Early Republic."
One version of this junk boat stamp was wood block printed in Beijing, is known as a "temporarily used for "2c on 3c back cover stamps, there are only 20 such stamps known in the world; the other one is the"temporarily used for "3c on 4c covered stamps, of which there are only 10 known in the world, these two junk boat stamps are the first in mainland China to appear auction. The section of later republic works, include the famous philatelist Mr. Lin Song whose collection includes many pieces that are without reserve. There is also a section and modern Chinese stamps featuring 300 auction items, including 35th anniversary of the October Soviet Revolution ,unissued, a set of 4, C94 Stage Art of Mei Lanfang, imperforate stamps in horizontal paris,all with corner wide margins, etc.
