On November 8-10 we will also hold "2009 Autumn Auction Selective Exhibition” at the Convention Center of Beijing International Hotel. To meet the needs of collectors, we have also arranged many lecture courses about appraisal and collection during the period.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, China Guardian will launch a special auction of "New China Fine Arts," featuring more than 50 “red” pieces of calligraphy, oil painting, prints and sculpture, including Wu Guanzhong’s "Northern Scenery," Jin Shangyi’s only industry themed oil painting "Chairman Mao at the Steel Mill", Jiang Zhaohe’s representative work "The Chinese People Have Since Stood Up," a huge ink and wash done on October 1, 1949, Cheng Shifa’s only comic featuring Chairman Mao "Welcome Chairman Mao", and Qi Baishi’s "Peace" collected by Lao She, and so on.

Among the “Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy”, "Calligraphy from The Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties" is the first ever systematic and broad scale theme auction China Guardian holds for ancient calligraphy in ten years. "Writings by Prominent Personage in the Song Dynasty on Attendant Xu’s Seal Character", "Du Fu’s Poems in Cursive Hand" by Song Ke and other museum treasure level masterpieces will show up in this session. For contemporary and modern calligraphy and painting, the two carefully prepared special auctions “Inheritance and Innovation – Painting and calligraphy from the late Qing Dynasty and the ROC period by important Asian Collectors”, and “East Meets West - The Forerunners of the 20th Century Chinese Ink and Wash" will for sure refresh the eyes of the collectors. Huang Binhong’s "Four Pieces of Light Crimson Landscape" and Chang Ta-chien’s "First Snow at Xishan" will lead the two special sessions of Huang’s works and Chang’s works separately. Fu Baoshi’s peak time masterpiece "Evening Rain at Bashan Mountain" will also show up in the 2009 Autumn Auction.

In terms of porcelain handicrafts, China Guardian will launch for the first time a court furnishing session named "The Qing Court Treasures," introducing more than 20 pieces of Qing court treasures. Highlights include a Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong Cloisonne famille rose mountain & sea pattern covered bottle, tapestry "Notes on Black Cloud Chamber by Emperor Qianlong", a set of ink by Emperor Qianlong, a Qianlong yellow ground blue and white dragon pattern bottle with double ears, and a copper body painted enamel chrysanthemum teapot, all with strong royal flavor.

“Modern and Contemporary Porcelain” and “Chinese Stone Art” auctions include both masterpieces from the ROC period and that by craft masters after the Liberation, and works by college professors.

With Chen Yifei’s "Lying Naked" and Ai Xuan’s "Echoless Wasteland" heading the list, “Oil painting, Sculpture and Photography” includes important works such as “Old Man” by Luo Zhongli, "Palace of Eternal Youth" by Han Lei, and Liu Zheng's most important works. Chinese sculpture features Northeast China and will bring together excellent works by three generations of the Northeast sculptors. At the same time, important works by sculptors Zhan Wang and Sui Jianguo will also be unveiled.

Ancient rare books, such as Lin Yutang’s "Free Diary of Lin Yutang", old collections of Zheng Yi Mei and Fang Xiaoru, as well as geographical maps, handwritten and carved Buddhist scriptures, the Ming Dynasty prints are especially noteworthy.
