The two-day 36th quarterly auctions, which ended on Dec. 15, brought in 112 million yuan.
The modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy category featured many top-selling items. Included were Chrysanthemum and Rock by Li Kuchan, which sold for 1.1 million yuan, about six times its estimated value, and Orchid and Bamboo by Qi Gong (897,000 yuan) and Hen and Chicks by Huang Zhou (690,000 yuan).

Overall, about 84 percent of the contemporary pieces were sold by lot. Highlights included Character and Geese by Shi Guoliang (598,000 yuan) and Landscape by Xue Liang (379,500).
Other top sellers included Calligraphy, a piece of Ming Dynasty calligraphy by Zhu Yunming, which fetched 1.4 million yuan, and Mynah Bird and Lotus by Zhu Da, which went for 805,000 yuan.

As for porcelain and artworks, top lots were a Famille-rose brush washer from the Qing Dynasty, which was bought for 3.2 million yuan, and a dou cai cup, which sold for 552,000 yuan.
In addition, a pink-ground with famille-rose dish from the Qing Dynasty sold for 287,500 yuan, and a contemporary ink stone fetched 241,500 yuan.
