The 43rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will be held on Sept 19 – 21 at the Beijing International Hotel in Beijing.
The auctions will feature over 4,200 items, including Chinese painting and calligraphy, porcelain, rare books, jade and works of art, which are brilliant and worth the wait.
Chinese paintings and calligraphy
In this section, about 2,000 items will be auctioned in six special sessions, namely, Masterpieces by Modern Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Artists, Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, and four sessions of Modern Chinese Painting and Calligraphy.
Through long-term business management, the Masterpieces by Modern Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Artists session has built a brand for itself and has always been well-known for its high quality. This autumn, China Guardian has deliberately chosen 19 masterpieces from famous artists like Persimmons by Zhang Daqian, and Cormorant by Pang Tianshou.

Regarding Chinese classical painting and calligraphy, the 43rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will have nearly 500 pieces to be auctioned in this session. China Guardian are very proud to present several great works, which will find favour with collectors. Among these works, Qing Dynasty artist Huang Shen’s Immortal, with a size of 181×95 cm, is a highlight of this session.

With a strict selection process and based on changes in the marketplace, China Guardian has chosen more than 1000 items for the modern Chinese painting and calligraphy section, which will be divided into four sessions.
Porcelain and works of art
The porcelain part of the 43rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions is divided into five special sessions, namely, Porcelain, Arts from the Scholar’s Studio, For the Enjoyment of Scholars, Collection of Mimu Retreat, and Jade Jewelry and Works of Art. In total, this section consists of nearly 1,700 items.
A pair of ear cups with yellow glazed dragon designs and a blue and white porcelain goddess of mercy bottle, both from the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, are the stars of this auction session.

The session Arts from the Scholar’s Studio features all kinds of ink stones matching with different signets, letter papers, and study appliances. An ancient ink stone of the Ming Dynasty in the old collection of Guifuzhai Study is a highlight of the session.

Furniture
Nearly 100 pieces of furniture will be presented at the 43rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions.
Among them, "Huanghuali rounded-foot cabinet” from the early Qing Dynasty features a very extravagant use of materials. Its simple design is dignified and aesthetically pleasing.

Rare books and manuscripts
The 43rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will feature two sessions and more than 500 pieces in this category, namely, Rare Books, and Letters from Masters. Among them, "Letter from Kang Youwei to Deng Shipu” is a highlight.

In addition, the autumn is also a good time for wine-tasting. China Guardian presents dozens of vintage wines for collectors to choose from. Quantities are limited, so they will be given on a first-come-first-served basis.
