The 44th quarterly auctions conducted by China Guardian concluded in Beijing on December 20, raising about 47.98 million yuan in two days.
The Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy session earned 10.36 million yuan. Highlights included Cat and Flowers by Songhuizong, which sold for 3.68 million yuan, 245 times its estimated price; Landscape and Character by Wen Zhengming went for 460,000 yuan and 368,000 yuan, and Narcissus by Anonymous sold for 299,000 yuan. In addition, Fish by Zhu Da sold for 195,500 yuan, Landscape by Zhao Zuo sold for 172,500 yuan.

In the porcelain, jade and works of art category, the highlights were a copper figure of Bodhisattva from the Ming Dynasty (1.38 million yuan), and a ‘dragon and phoenix’ carving paperweight (138,000 yuan).

Recalling the whole year of 2015, China Guardian's total volume of transaction was stable, largely unchanged from the same period in 2014. Three master pieces sold for stunning prices, including Pan Tianshou’s Eagle, Rock and Flora ( 279 million yuan), Li Keran’s Jinggang Mountain (126.5 million yuan) and Li Keran's Thousands of Hills in a Crimsoned View (184 million yuan). In addition, China Guardian opened the night sale of 20th Century & Contemporary Chinese Art for the first time, receiving a total of 157 million yuan.
