"Numerous art exhibitions, art fairs and auctions in Hong Kong in March and April have attracted collectors and art lovers from all around the world. After four days of previews and auctions, China Guardian Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2018 unexpectedly raised a total of HK$ 420 million, with a 28.9% increase compared to 2017's spring auctions.
Sales of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy achieved superb results. We are especially excited to see lots of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art break HK$ 100 million, which is the highest in this category within five years. Zao Wou-Ki's 25.06.86 topped all the sales and achieved HK$ 43.87 million. Our newly-introduced sales of Jewelry, Watches and Luxury Goods showed immense growth as numerous magnificent jewels were sold at remarkable prices.
We have clearer positioning in the Hong Kong market, which is in line with the strategy of our Beijing headquarters. In Hong Kong's highly competitive market, all our achievements should be credited to collectors in Asia, Europe and the US. We celebrate our 25th anniversary this year. And we promise to do our best and bring great lots this autumn at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center."
